Pioneer Millworks reclaimed barn siding received two Grand Prize awards from the Association for Retail Environments (A.R.E.) for specialty food retailer of the year at the 2010 A.R.E. Design Awards. Pioneer Millworks salvaged barn siding was used as wall treatments in interior and exterior applications at both the Starbucks Coffee Company's 15th Avenue Coffee & Tea Shop and Roy Street Coffee & Tea Shop.

04/27/10--00:00: Antique Wood Salvaged During Demolition of Iconic 1800s Brewery Building (chan 3148038)

Pioneer Millworks recently salvaged antique wood from an old building in Syracuse, NY. The three-story structure dated back to 1865 when it was owned by former Syracuse Mayor Thomas Ryan and once brewed Ryan’s Pure Beer. The rescued wood includes old growth, antique Heart Pine (link) and white pine timbers, estimated around 400 years old.

The booth was designed and crafted entirely in their earth friendly shop using reclaimed and sustainable wood pieces and other elements that were recycled from their mill yard. After the booth runs its course, the wood will be re-used and re-purposed into other products. Pioneer Millworks salvaged over 120,000 board feet of wood during the demolition of the Wehrle Stove Factory in Newark, Ohio — wood that otherwise might have been ground to dust or ended up in a landfill. Reclaimed oak, heart pine, eastern white pine, chestnut, and a few Ohio hardwoods were reclaimed from structural timbers, flooring and trusses. Pioneer Millworks will repurpose the wood into solid and engineered flooring, timber frames, custom cabinetry, furniture, fixtures, millwork, and more.
